Melissa Evans, daughter of Mrs.. Bonnie Evans and the late J.W. (Junior) Evans, Jr. of Elm Grove and Richland Springs received her Ph.D. from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas, on December 13, 2014.
Evans' dissertation was entitled: Effectiveness of a Required Health-Related Fitness Course on Physical Activity and Dietary Behaviors Among Community College Students.

On Dec. 2, at 6:30, the Sharon Club held their Christmas Party at the home of Owen and Linda Parks. The home was decorated with many angels, Santas and a tree in every room! Each member brought a dish for a Mexican Fiesta. We enjoyed enchiladas, tamales, flautas, beans, salad, salsa, Mexican cornbread and desserts

The San Saba Garden Club met on a lovely Tuesday afternoon, December 2, 2014, at the historic Clubhouse in Mill Pond Park for their annual Christmas social. Members were welcomed at the entrance with pots adorned with Christmas greenery and balls and festive candy canes lining the walkway.
