Texas Independence Day celebrated at the Museum Saturday night

By Lynn Blankenship

The day was misty and cool. All the members of the San Saba County Museum had finished their last- minute preparations and the gates were open. Visitors from all over Central Texas were anxious to come in and help the museum celebrate Texas Independence Day.

The excellent cowboy dinner of beef stew, cornbread, beans, and peach cobbler was ready to be served by the Chamber of Commerce directors. The musicians were tuning up and the eight storytellers were awaiting their audience.

Pierian Study Club holds February meeting in the home of Kathleen Hawkinswagon

By Anita AdamsAdams

The Pierian Study Club met February 9, 2017 at the beautiful home of Kathleen Hawkins deep in Sloan Community. The ranch home is beyond picturesque with it's stream of water and traditional landscaping. The Co-Hostesses pictured above were Patricia Warren, Sherry Ruddick, Gale Ivy, and Louise Williams (seated).

The program was presented by our own, Marcia Dyer. She spoke on creating home décor with beads and with her charming personality it was an enjoyable event. She taught us how to take a plain bottle and turn it into art! And then graciously donated one of her creations with a drawing and Celia Bell was the lucky winner.

The Valentine Basket which was being held during the drawing by Jo Ann Weik and 'TADA' she won the basket!
