American Legion to sponsor San Saba student

Submitted by Post Adjutant

Boys State has been a program of The American Legion since 1935, when it organized to counter the fascist-inspired Young Pioneer Camps at that time. By 1937, the American Legion expanded the program for females and the “Girls State” program was born.

The Richland Springs Report

By Sue Ransom

What a glorious week of rain and cool. Everywhere I look, I see full tanks. On Thursday morning I was a little worried because we were scheduled for an afternoon science walk on the farm. By 11:00 a.m. the skies had cleared off and the sun came out to bless our beautiful day. I believe everyone enjoyed their walk and search.

The Richland Springs Report

Praise God for this beautiful rain we are receiving! I must admit I was a bit of a doubting Thomas when I listened to the weather report. All too often they predict rain and it sweeps around us to some other part of Texas. Not this time though. Reports in my immediate area ranged from 2.4 to 4 inches. That is awesome. We just returned from San Saba and my gauge reads 3.2 inches.

The Bend News

By Jo Price

The weather has been something else again this past week, cold and windy. Sunday turned out really nice and Monday started out with a heavy dew and nippy. The pecan trees are putting on green leaves, so just maybe we are past time for frost. Up north they are still having snow as of Monday.

Raymond Cooper Prepares For His Greatest Performance

By Kevin Slimp's

July 4, 1998, is a date that will live in infamy in the annals of Lennox Valley. Let’s look back at the events that led up to this remarkable date in Valley history. The daily talk radio show, “Renderings with Raymond,” is as good a place to begin as any, I suppose. It had been only 17 months since Raymond Cooper hatched his plan to use his celebrity to weasel his way into the mayor’s seat in the upcoming election. With each passing day, listeners became more enraged at Raymond’s favorite source of controversy, the dastardly actions of the Federal Reserve System.
