San Saba Garden Club September Yard of the Month

We know that August is a dreadful month for gardens and yards. Until the cooler autumn weather arrives and before the dormant season sets in, the summer heat often stretches into September. Our yards, bushes, trees, plants and flowers are all anxious to perform one last time before their winter sleep occurs. As homeowners, we must persevere until the briskness of fall begins by doing what we can to keep our outdoor landscapes alive and enjoyable.

Bruce and Emma Stewart at 1007 E. Wallace do just that. As Bruce indicated, he doesn’t have a lot blooming right now and he has struggled to keep the lawn green in spite of the fungus that attacked the St. Augustine from last year’s heavy rains and then this year the subdued rainfall and lack of adequate water, which is not unheard of in our area.
