Four weeks of this six-week grading period have flown by. As yet another school year is upon us, millions of parents across America are entrusting their precious children to educators in schools. Parents and teachers together, we are the family, the foundation, the consistency, the harmony, and the encouragement. Children seek acceptance, belonging, caring and love. Too often, especially in today’s society where time is so valuable, with single parent households, parents working two jobs, parents who are just plain exhausted, many children lack not only the educational support but also the much needed emotional support. For those kids, school is that support — it is that home away from home.

Every day, for 177 days a year, we put our best foot forward, put a smile on our faces, encourage and nurture these kids as best as we can, and hope that in some form or fashion, we will have a positive impact on these students to prepare them for the real challenges in life they will face upon graduation.

Cross country runners participated in the Lometa Cross Country Invitational this Tuesday. It was a great week for Coyote football. Both the junior high Coyotes and the varsity Coyotes came away with victories over the Aquilla teams last week. It was a picture-perfect autumn night with a beautiful sunset for the junior high game. The junior high team won 47-0 over the Aquilla junior high team. The junior high cheerleaders had an outstanding performance at the pep rally and game this past Thursday. The varsity Coyotes moved to 2-0 on the season with a 50-46 win over the Aquilla Cougars team last Friday night at Aquilla.

Homecoming activities this week will keep the student body in high spirits. The junior high and junior varsity teams travel to Austin to play the Austin Royals this Thursday beginning at 5:00 p.m. The Homecoming Pep Rally will be held in downtown Richland Springs at 3:00 p.m. Friday. The varsity Coyotes will host the Austin Royals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Coyote Field. Homecoming Queen and King will be announced at the game.

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.

Community involvement is the key to our success!

• Austin Royals vs. R. S. Coyotes Friday 7:30 at Coyote Field

Come out and support the Coyotes!!
