The State of Texas vs. Louis Davenport The following testimony was taken at the examining trial in the above mentioned case.

Jim Richards testified that Kerns’ reputation for truth and veracity was bad. Cross-examined. Witness said that Kerns’ bad reputation partly grew out of a certain case in which Kerns had been where Turner was said to have been killed. He could not recognize any of the men. After they got to within about sixty or seventy-five yards of him he recognized Mr. Cochran. Cross-examined. Witness was asked about the second test, in which he went to where Turner was killed to see if persons left at the house could recognize them.
