The Pierian Study Club met for their monthly meeting on April 11th, at the Legacy Plaza on Highway 183 in downtown Goldthwaite. The Yearbook Committee, composed of Marcia Dyer, Chairman; Cissy Williams, Kay Stowell, Sandy Smith, Gale Ivy and Joanne Weik, were hostesses for the event.

Approximately 13 members made the short trip to Goldthwaite to enjoy the Botanical Gardens and Native American Interpretive Center.

The group was welcomed by Savannah Early, Garden Manager of the facility. After a brief discussion of how the Center came to be, Club members were led on a tour of the gardens.

Very artistic signs were along the way explaining how the Indians lived off the land. Savannah described each tree, shrub or flower in the Center and told how the Indians once used these for food and medicines. The Center offers programs and classes for groups of all ages to help teach the things that aren't common in public education.
