Kay was born January 9, 1936 at Rollins-Brook Hospital in Lampasas, Texas. She passed away on January 8, 2019, in Lampasas, one day short of her 83rd birthday, leaving a number of devastated family and friends. She was the second of five children born to Cecil Edward Farquhar and Geneva Gladys Barrett Farquhar who were both descendants of pioneers in the area.

She was married to H.W. Junior Keele on April 8, 1960 in San Saba, Texas, her home at the time of her passing. They met at a country dance at Izora schoolhouse in Lampasas County. Her Uncle Red Barrett had a band and he introduced Junior and Kay at that time. Kay loved to dance and attended every dance she could. Kay liked Jimmy Heap and the Melody Masters, and her Uncle's band, The Drifters. She would have danced across Texas if she could. Kay and Junior were the parents of two daughters: Vicki Laine Keele Brown and Stacey Lynn Keele Dame.

Kay primarily attended Burnet schools in her lifetime. She was active in many organizations. A long-time friend of hers mentioned that her recollection of Kay was that she was extremely smart. She was a real beauty and was elected Miss Personality at Burnet High School in 1954, her graduating year.

Kay was very detail-oriented and was her husband's bookkeeper for many years in their auto shop business. As her children grew, she became interested in genealogy and finding the origins of her family. Her keen interest drew many people in, including her sister Donna. Kay authored two books in her lifetime. They encompassed Pleasant Hill and Cauble cemeteries of Lake Victor, Burnet County, Texas. She donated the books to the cemetery associations to sell for their upkeep. In the future, much of Kay's research will be donated to a library deemed appropriate by family, in order to enrich the lives of others for many years to come.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Keele Brown of Arizona; her parents; her sister, Lanell; sister and brother-in-law, Paula Farquhar Green and Wilton Gale (Bill) Green of Lampasas, Texas; and other relatives. Kay is survived by her husband, Junior Keele, of San Saba; daughter and her husband, Stacey and Steve Dame of Balmorhea, Texas; grandson, Joel Robbins of Dallas, Texas; brother, Neal Farquhar of Bertram, Texas; sister, Donna Farquhar Bradshaw of Burnet, Texas; son-in-law, Mark Brown, of Sierra Vista, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
