Yvonne G. Cook, 88, of Andrews passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 in Andrews. Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m.Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Andrews Church of Christ, 201 NW 2nd Street, in Andrews with Minister Leslie L. Boone officiating. The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.on Saturday at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 in the Holt Cemetery in Holt, Texas. Please celebrate her life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com. Yvonne was born on Noveber 24, 1929 in Stacy, Texas to Ernest Gober and Iva Mae Fikes Gober. She was raised in Sheffield and McCamey and graduated from McCamey High School in 1947. She attended the San Angelo Business School for Women and moved back to McCamey, where she worked for National Supply Company. She married Jack Randall Cook, Sr. on June 17, 1950 in McCamey. They lived in McCamey, Denver City, Hobbs, NM, and moved to Andrews in 1960, while he worked for Shell Oil Company. She had worked for Elkins Insurance in Andrews and retired from Mims and Stephens Insurance in Midland. Yvonne and her husband have been involved in the Republican Party for Texas since 1963. They had both served as County Chairperson for Andrews County, and she had served as District Committee Woman. She was a member of the Andrews County Republican Party, Andrews County Republican Women, and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She will be remembered for being strong-willed, elegant, and loving her church and her family. She loved to paint, had a beautiful voice for singing, and loved to collect many things, including elephants. She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ. Yvonne is survived by her son, Randall Cook and wife, Sandra, of Cypress; brother, Dwight Gober and wife, Linda, of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Tammie Cook, of Lubbock; granddaughter, Amanda Pyle and husband, Josh, of Shallowater; grandson, Zane Cook and wife, Kelsey, of Andrews; and three great-grandchildren, Avery and Hagen Pyle and Hunter Cook. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband on December 8, 1990; her son, Robert Owen Cook, on December 28, 2008; as well as her sister, Daphyne Nelson, and great-grandson, Payton Cook. Memorials may be sent to any charity that supports cancer research.
