Don Burnham, age 91, of San Saba, Texas passed away surrounded by his family, in San Saba, Texas on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Don was born on July 8, 1927 in Brownwood, Texas to Leslie D. Burnham and Myrtle (Lane.) Don was raised in San Saba County. As a young man of 17, he left high school to serve in the Navy during WWII. Upon returning from the service he finished his education. He then began farming and ranching until the drought forced him to take a job in an aircraft plant. But, when the first substantial rain finally came, Don returned to what he loved the most—working the land where he grew up. He married Martha Rae Owen in 1957 and continued this country way of life for over 60 years. They shared this legacy with their children and grandchildren who are now continuing a tradition spanning five generations. It’s only befitting that he be buried on the very land that sustained his life. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty one years Martha Owen Burnham of San Saba, Texas; three children Raelene and husband John Freasier of San Saba, Texas, Reagan and wife Angie Burnham of San Saba, Texas and Renice Burnham of San Saba, Texas; two brothers; Stan and wife Millie Burnham of San Saba, Texas and Paris Burnham of Temple, Texas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host of other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Leslie Burnham and one sister Thelma Janes. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel in San Saba. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Lower Rye Valley Cemetery in Mills County, Texas with Brother Tom Brand officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas. In Lieu of flowers the family request Memorials be made to the Fathers House or San Saba County Friends of Animals.
