April 14th completed another successful city-wide annual cleanup for Keep San Saba Beautiful (KSSB) and their “Don’t Mess With Texas” and Keep America Beautiful “Great American Cleanup” partners. Cleanup week started off with the Cub Scout cleanup of Risien Park on Monday. Then Oscar the Grouch (Patty Shaw and Gale Ivy) visited San Saba Elementary and Middle School students on Thursday and Friday. Saturday ended the week with the help of 40 volunteers who braved the wind and cold temperature.

Nine truck and six trailer loads of trash and debris were collected during the 3 hour cleanup. Volunteers picked up approximately 50 bags of litter along the highways entering town, along city streets and in the parks. The remainder of trash collected was picked up at homes by City employees and brought out to the transfer site by County residents who took advantage of the FREE cleanup day drop-off.
