Jana Beth Shumate, 45, of Goldthwaite passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Funeral services were held on April 5th at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite, TX. Jana was born in Brownwood, Texas to Jess and Mozelle Shumate on October 19, 1968. She graduated high school in Richland Springs in 1986. After graduating high school, Jana received her RN degree from Tarleton State  University in 1996. She worked in the nursing field for 18 years of her life, touching and healing too many lives to count. Jana added a touch of crazy beautiful light into every person's life that she came in contact with. Forever a free spirit, her smile and laugh were contagious. Those who ever had the fortune of personally  meeting Jana understood that she had a very special talent of healing, whether it be physically or emotionally. A mother, sister, aunt, daughter, "nana", and best friend, Jana managed to positively impact complete strangers as well as those who had known her for many years. Jana was happiest when she was with her family. They showed a deep love for music, singing, dancing, and laughing. When the world got dark, Jana was always a ray of sunshine. She filled so many lives with love and compassion, and she will always be remembered as a rare and beautiful soul who was never afraid to seize the moment and live life to the fullest. Jana will be remembered through the two beautiful children, Tana and Cagan, that she shared with Charlie Smith, as well as her granddaughter Chloee Ryan. Her life will reflect in the lives of her siblings: Jackie Newton, Gwen Brush, and Roy Shumate, as well as her parents Jess and Mozelle Shumate. She is preceded in death by her sister, Lynda Gale Stephens, and her grandparents Mofford and Henrietta Shumate, and Frank and Myrtle Hill. "Peace to all."- Jana Shumate
