Oliver C. Young “Manny”, 73, passed away on January 1, 2014 in Temple Texas after a short illness. Manny was born on February 18, 1940 to Leslie and Jewel (Pierce) Young of San Saba, Texas. Manny was a lover of the
seas, he followed in his father’s footsteps, joining the United States Navy after high school and was a Merchant Seaman leaving behind very few bodies of water un- attended, whether it was shallow creeks or rivers in the  state of Texas. He always managed to stop and get a hook wet even if he didn’t have any bait. Manny is survived by his children, Travis Young of Abilene, Texas, Tracy Young of San Saba, Texas, Trina Young Manning and
husband, Melvin of Midland, Texas, Trudi Schoech and husband, Martin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Trisha Whitehead and husband, Tommy of Richland Springs, Texas. Manny also leaves behind three sisters, Sally Young Steger, and husband Lester of Austin, Texas, Jeanie Riggs Smith of Bartlette Tennessee, Pam Riggs of San Saba, Texas and two brothers Ray and Don Riggs and their families also of San Saba, Texas. Manny had fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and there are many nephews, nieces, and cousins whom will also miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, including his stepfather, Lee Riggs,
as well as his younger brother Leslie Young, two sisters, Faye Galloway and Josie Andrus and two-step brothers, Jackie and Archie Riggs. There will be a memorial service to be held on the afternoon of January 11, 2014 at the home of Tracy Young in San Saba, Texas for family and close friends. We would like to thank all who shared their life with Manny and the prayers and support to loved ones left behind. Memorial services are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas
