The Richland Springs Coyotes suffered a monumental meltdown in the Regional Semi Finals last Saturday afternoon in Hico. The Coyotes battled courageously to take a 14-8 half-time lead on two Brian Salinas runs, the last, a 9 yard run accomplished by sheer willpower, with no time left on the halftime clock. An interception and return by Jacob Cohn sets-up a spectacular 47 yard run by Salinas to increase the margin to 20-8 with 4:15 left in the third quarter. One minute later, Salinas recovers a Trojan fumble and scampers 37 yards, and the Coyotes are up 28-8 with 2:59 left in the third period. The 20 point margin appeared huge as both teams had struggled in the wintry weather to provide any offense from the line of scrimmage.
