Roberto Torres, Sr., of San Saba, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 30,2012, at his home in San Saba, at the age of 77. He was born June 1, 1935 in Rocksprings, Texas, the son of Francisco Torres and Eloisa Martinez Torres. Later, as a young adult, Roberto Torres and Manuelita Rodriguez were married and made their home in San Saba where he followed his job, shearing sheep and working in the pecan industry.

Mr. Frank S. Hardin of Fredericksburg and formally of Harlingen passed away on Wednesday December 12th in the Hill Country Memorial Hospital at the age of 87 years. Frank was born February 10, 1925 in San Saba, Texas to Perry and Winnie Boynton Hardin. He attended The University of Texas prior to joining the Army Air Corps in 1943.

Birl "Buddy" J. Rives, Jr., passed away on December 2, 2012 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on January 28, 1937 to Birl Rives, Sr. & Martha McWilliams in San Saba, TX. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and later retired after working 30 years at Thermal Supply as a manager.

Dorothy Bernice Long, 91, of San Saba, Texas, after battling congestive heart failure for a number of years, passed away on December 5, 2012 at the hospital in Llano, Texas. Visitation was held on Friday, December 7, 2012, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba.

James Ivan Marion Hardy died Friday December 7, 2012 at Hillview Manor in Goldthwaite, TX. James was born in 1925 to Virginia and Thomas Hardy in Lampasas County. He grew up in Red Bluff, TX and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, serving in World War II on the U.S.S.

She was born October 16, 1929 in Turnersville, TX, the daughter of Pearl Francis Weeks Jones and Lem Houston Jones. She was a homemaker with many special talents. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Katy Baptist Church, Grace Fellowship Church of Lampasas.

Lillian Gage Cobern, age 96, of San Saba, went home to our Lord on Monday, December 10, 2012. Mrs. Cobern was born near Bend, Texas on January 2, 1916 to Essie (Stafford) Gage and Rufus Ernest Gage. She was a member of the San Saba Church of Christ. Lillian or Aunt Tude, as the Gage family called her, was a nurse, avid fisherman and known for her fabulous pecan pies.Lillian married L.P.

Charley Carl Brister passed away at home on Thursday, November 15, 2012, after a two-year battle with melanoma cancer. His funeral was held Monday, November 19th at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth.Charley was born January 13, 1938 in the Walker Community, Garvin County, Oklahoma to O.M. and Pauline Brister.
