On December 3, 2012, the training necessary to obtain a Private Pesticide Applicators License will be presented by Jamie Osbourn, Llano County Extension Agent. This training will be held at the Llano Church of Christ Annex, Llano, TX, and will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration. The $75.00 registration fee includes the noon meal, study materials and reference manuals.

Cole Valiente, 8 years old, shot this 7 point buck during the morning hunt on 11/10/12. He was hunting on the 5 Star Ranch near San Saba. It was his first deer.

Receipts totaled 1824 head for the week. Demand was good and the market was active with the stocker steers and heifers selling steady and the feeder steers selling steady to $2.00 lower and heifers selling steady. Packer cows and bulls also sold steady. Demand was good on the big group of bred cows offered selling from $1230-$1430.

Receipts totaled 6088 head for the week on a choice offering of calves and yearlings with a lot of weaned cattle being offered. Demand was very aggressive on all classes of cattle with stocker steers and heifers steady up to 2.00 higher with some of the weaned cattle selling 8.00 to 10.00 higher.

The elk hunting party of Jackie and Charlene Brister, Marilyn Brister, Earl and Blain Adams, Shari and Steve Raesz, Bryan Benningfield, and Phillip and Bobbie Morris went to Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico.A wonderful time was had by all, cooking, eating, hunting and reminiscing around the campfire.The season opened October 13, 2012 and Jackie got his elk that first morning.

It won’t be long until all the lil’ Hobgoblins will be trekking up & down the streets, going from house to house filling their lil’ Pumpkin baskets with all sorts of treats so as the folks won’t get “tricked”. Anyhow, the end of October is right around the corner & it seems as if it was only a couple of weeks back that we were enjoying the Labor Day weekend.

Receipts totaled 1865 head for the week. The demand remains strong and the market active with stocker steers and heifers selling firm as compared to last week’s higher prices. Feeder steers sold $1.00 higher while feeder heifers sold $2.00 higher. Packer bulls sold $2.00 higher with the top bull weighing 1920 @ $100.00 and packer cows sold $1.00 higher.

The demand was strong and the market active on a choice offering with most of the stocker steers selling steady with one set of 6 steers weighing 333 at $222.00 and a set of 23 steers weighing 573 at $165.00. Heifers were also steady with one set of 6 weighing 478 at $167.00.

Receipts totaled 1035 head for the week. Good rains of 2 to 5 inches and some areas up to 12 inches fell in the area giving a much needed boost to the wheat grazing. Because of this, stocker steers were 3.00 to 5.00 higher and in some instances 8.00 higher and heifers selling a full 3.00 higher.
