Anthony & Candace Munoz are proud to announce the birth of their twin daughters. Hallie Analyse Munoz & Hadley Brynn Munoz were born on February 12, 2013 in San Angelo, TX. Hallie weighed 5 lbs 5 oz and was 19 in long. Hadley weighed 4 lbs 15 oz and was 17 ½ in long.

The Fellowship of Christian Women’s Luncheon is meeting ONE WEEK EARLY next Thursday, March 21st and the meeting place has been changed to First Baptist Church, San Saba. Ladies at First Baptist are planning a Spring Salads Luncheon and give the ladies of the county a special invitation to come and enjoy the first day of Spring together.

Sojourners are faithful members of the Church of Christ who have retired and are using the remainder of their Christian lives doing missionary work for God. Sojourners are coming to San Saba, Texas the last two weeks of March. They will knock on doors and offer to study the Bible with those interested in learning God’s Word.

The Texas Hill Country Dorper Sheep Association again will award two college scholarships this fall in memory of one of the state's pioneers in the Dorper sheep industry. The scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, are open to any Texas resident. One will be awarded to a high school senior graduating this spring and the other to a college student who will be at least a junior in any Texas college or university this fall. We have a special group from Lampasas, HIMS of Praise, performing gospel songs. We will also have some congregational singing as well. An electrical fire destroyed the mobile home of Travin and Jill Burrows on CR 204 in Richland Springs on Tuesday, March 5th. They are in need of housing, furniture and gift cards to purchase basic necessities. They hope to find housing in the RSISD area because their 7 yr. old daughter is in the GT program there.

The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held Monday, March 11th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. Commissioner Rickey Lusty called the court to order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. The following County Official and Departmental reports were approved subject to audit: County/District Clerk, County Treasurer, County Justice of the Peace, County Sheriff and Jail.

Luis Vega, J.T. Mathis, Kelan Verette, Kolton Ellis and Garrett Welch were named to the District 12A Academic All District Team in basketball this year. This honor is given to players who have maintained a 90 average or above in their high school classes this year. The Abilene Christian University Alumni Advisory Board is pleased to present Cmdr. David Bynum (’84) with the university’s 2013 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year award. Bynum, a native of San Saba, Texas, is a chaplain in the U.S. Navy, which he has served for 18 years. He currently is a student at the National War College in Washington, D.C., and is slated to be promoted to captain in the coming year.

The San Saba Tennis Team played in the Region V 2A & Under Team Tennis Tournament on March 1-2, in Leander. In the Quarterfinals San Saba defeated Early 16 to 3. In the semifinal match the Armadillos defeated Thrall 15 to 4. In the finals San Saba took on a strong Godley team and came up on the short end losing 10 to 7.
