That was a humdinger of a storm last Sunday. As far as rain was concerned it fell a little short of what is needed in the area, but every drop helps this dry land and our local farmers and ranchers. I heard .3 and .4 of an inch from folks in the area.

In visiting I meet so many people who say they are Christians and do not attend church. I think Christians need to ask the question should I go to Church. The Bible speaks a good bit about worshipping God. Early on in the biblical history of man we find him worshipping God.

1 Corinthians 9:24: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” The Greeks had a race in their Olympic games that was unique. The winner was not the runner who finished first.

This morning as I sat down with my computer, the cursor was doing some strange things. It was moving all over the screen and I was not moving the mouse. Not being a computer Geek, I restarted my computer and that fixed the problem. At least it has so far. Most of the things that happen in life we can use as illustrations.

I had an article written and as happens in life a precious hand came in and told me to put that article in my documents file for another time because there was something else I needed to say. Seven years ago when we first bought this house, I was in our backyard surveying the mess that it was and I heard a rather stern voice say…”Do you mind if I ask what you are doing back there?” I looked up to see a perfectly coifed, well dressed older lady standing at the back fence adjoining the hous ...

Reading Recommendations: Killing Kennedy, The End of Camelot, Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard. More than two million readers have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly and historian Martin Dugard's Killing Lincoln, the riveting work of non fiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved pr ...

Super Bowl Sunday doesn’t mean so very much at our house since Harold isn’t a fan of sports, I am not a fan of grilled things and neither one of us seem to have any fans. Yep, our Super Bowl Sunday was pretty quiet and the only touchdown was when Patches jumped down from the couch and made a four point landing.

Happy February! It is hard to believe we are already in February. The school year seems to fly by once January is in the books. Many spring activities keep our students and teachers busy. Elm Grove is well represented in the many activities at Richland Springs School. Our Elm Grove community has strong ties with the school, our neighbors and friends are staunch supporters of our school children.

The Spring like weather is still continuing and according to the ground hog, which didn’t see his shadow the winter weather may be over earlier than usual, but don’t believe it. We could have a late freeze that will take care of all the fruit trees and tender plants. This next week on February 14, is St.

Fiery chile pequín is the state’s only native pepper. In the fall, as soon as hints of red tinge tiny chile pequíns, the race is on. If you want some, you have to be vigilant and check the bushes every day. When the peppers turn red, birds gobble them up. I remember glancing out the court yard window one morning when I was heading off to my town job.

Well the little groundhog guy says spring is coming early, but we already beat him to it. I for one do not put much store in waking a little animal up and letting him predict my next six weeks weather. Our poor weathermen can’t do weather for a week, and they have tons of computer equipment.

A couple staying at a motel noticed a strong odor in their room. They spent the entire night in the room with the stink. The next day after the couple checked out, the motel workers found a dead body under the bed. It is amazing what people can ignore! Many in today’s world are unaware of the stink of sin.

DANIEL 9:5 “We have sinned and have committed iniquity and have done wickedly and have rebelled from THY judgements.” It is great because Daniel was confessing the sins of his people from the viewpoint of GOD. It may cause us to wonder if GOD has a purpose for us in this present life of the flesh.
