Last week, our junior high and varsity football teams played Bracken Christian. The junior high Indians played hard but were unable to get the win. The varsity team fared better and snagged a decisive win with a score of 61-16.

In other sports news, our girls cross country team placed 3rd in the 2-4A girls division at the Lampasas Battling Badger Cross Country Meet last Thursday. They will compete in Hamilton on October 4th. The varsity boys will start at 2:45 p.m., and the girls will follow.

Cherokee’s preschool class will be participating in Color Me Healthy. This program is nine weeks and will highlight the importance of the colors of the rainbow in fruits and vegetables. It will show them how to be active in different places. They will discover that trying new foods can be an adventure. They will learn that being active helps their heart. They will also learn about where fruits and vegetables grow. The county extension agent is looking forward to working with Mrs. Courtney’s preschool class. Stay tuned to see all the fun activities and adventures this class will be participating in! For more information about available programs to the community, please contact McKinley Armstrong at mckinley. crownover@ag.tamu.edu or 325-372-5416.

We are also excited to announce that we are adding Junior FFA to our membership. Junior FFA members are able to participate in all local FFA activities, to show animals at county and major livestock shows, and to be a part of a wonderful student organization. This is open to students from 3rd grade through 7th grade. If you are interested in this, please contact Mrs. New, Mr. New, or Mr. Newman. We have also sent home applications and there are more applications in the office.

Lots of things going on at Cherokee ISD! Have a great week!
