With Spring Break behind us, we only have one more small break from school before summer! Next week, we will have an early release at noon on Wednesday, April 5th, and no school at all on Thursday, April 6th. This will give a lot of us a nice long Easter weekend. For track participants, it will be business as usual as they compete in the junior high and high school district meets.

Last week, the High School track team competed in the Bluebonnet Relays in Brownwood. The boys finished 3rd overall in the 1A-3A division. What a feat to excel among larger schools! Senior Joey Bond has earned an invitation to the 95th annual Clyde Little Texas Relays for the second year in a row. This time, he will be competing in both Shot Put and Discus with qualifying throws of 55' 4' and 179' 4' respectively. The event is by invitation only and takes place at Mike A. Myers Track Stadium at the University of Texas from March 29th-April 1st. Bond will be throwing on Friday and Saturday. Congratulations, Joey! Nine students participated in the first part of Academic UIL on Friday, March 24th. Kora Berrio placed 1st in Editorial Writing and will advance to Regionals. Skyla Shannon placed 6th in Headline Writing. Chloe Berrio placed 4th in Creative Writing. The mathematics team placed 1st and will advance to Regionals with teammates Joey Bond (1st), Joel Valdez (2nd), Maycie Shanklin, Emmett Jones, and Aubrey Swinney. The Number Sense team placed 3rd with teammates Joey Bond (3rd-Regionals), Joel Valdez (6th), Aubrey Swinney, and Emmett Jones. Several other Indians will compete at the District UIL Speaking Competition on Thursday, March 30th. Good luck to Kora Berrio, Chloe Berrio, Aubrey Swinney, and Maycie Shanklin.

The junior high GT class has been working on a video showcasing just how special Cherokee ISD is. The video debuted during morning announcements this week and will be featured on our website if we can work out the kinks!

Have a great week!
