The San Saba Garden Club’s award of “Yard of the Month” for June, 2013 goes to Michelle Daniels of 2407 West Wallace Street. Ms. Daniels says she purchased the highway property in 2007 from the family of Mrs. Catherine Amthor who was the original owner that built the brick home in the 1980s.

The veterans of the Wiley B. Murray Post No. 27 will meet Thursday, June 20th at the Legion Hall in San Saba for their stated meeting. The building will be opened at 5:30P.M. for fellowship and refreshments. At 6:30P.M. a meal of barbeque & beans will be served. Members should bring complimentary covered side dish, salad, bread or dessert.

At the San Saba County Historical Museum Foundation annual meeting, held at the Gazebo in Mill Pound Park on June 2nd, 2013, the winners of the raffle prizes were determined. The third prize, a pair of boots was won by Henry Warren. The second prize, a weekend at the Hyatt in San Antonio, was won by Buddie Oliver.

The San Saba County Commissioners Court and the San Saba City Council have proclaimed Thursday, June 13 as San Saba Community Garden Day and are encouraging all citizens to attend the Dedication Ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on June 13th. The dedication will be held at the Garden located at 705 E.

The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, June 10th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the Court to order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner Rickey Lusty gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. Ann McElroy, accompanied by Jo Anne Weik and Marcie Cooper, explained the efforts of the community to provide the additions at the Community Center including a Community Garden.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the San Saba City Cemetery on Tuesday, June 11th at 11:00a.m. for Jane Anderson Hinson. She was born on Jan. 18, 1941 in San Saba, Texas to the late Clarence and Leonda (Behrens) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean L.

Ruth Busby Gage passed away June 1, 2013. Ruth Busby Gage was born September 4, 1911 in Cedar Hill, Texas to Stephen and Maud Busby. Ruth, eldest of eight children, moved with her family to San Saba County in 1929. Ruth married Clayton Gage in San Saba, May 14, 1934.

The Texas Hill Country Police Officers Association held it’s monthly meeting Thursday, May 23rd at the San Saba Civic Center. For the first time since it’s inception, the San Saba County Sheriff’s Office hosted the event. The Association is made up of Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments throughout the 33rd Judicial District.
