Farm & Ranch
Most of the folks around our parts seemed to be only beginning to enjoy Fall & October, whilst finding ourselves already half through November and planning our Turkey Day dinners. We enjoyed good, general rains over most parts of the County during the 1st part of October that went a long way toward filling the creeks, rivers, & ponds around the area, as well as a couple of light showers during the early part of November.

Receipts totaled 1660 head for the week. The market continued strong after last week’s increase with stocker steers selling steady and heifers $2-$3 higher with one group of 600 pound heifers going for $1.39. The feeder steers and heifers all sold on a steady market. Packer cows were $2-$3 higher and bulls were steady.

Receipts totaled 3823 head for the week. The market was very active and demand strong on all classes with the stocker steers selling $5 higher and stocker heifers $5 to $6 higher. Feeder steers were $3 higher and feeder heifers were $3 to $4 higher. The weaned calves all sold from $8 to $15 higher with very strong demand.

The most admirable month of the year is gone, & this humble scribe never really took the time to properly eulogize the 10th month that offers us so much beauty, peace, and tranquility. It also allows our folks that live from the land a time to sort of get things “laid by” in order to betruly thankful come November for being bountifully blessed.

Receipts totaled 5667 head for the week. The market continued to advance forward again this week with the stocker steers weighing 300-600 pounds selling $5 to $7 higher and heifers advancing $5. Feeder steers and heifers sold $3 higher. There has not been much of a noticeable change with ourprecipitation situation as of late, but at least we are having some cooler mornings & the evenings are a bit more bearable.
