A new statewide Rainwater Harvesting Training Camp has been set for Aug. 16-20 on the Texas Tech University campus in Junction. In cooperation with the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC,) the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, has recently developed a mobile Veterinary Emergency Team (V.E.T.) to respond to disasters that affect animals state-wide. The new team is deployable under the state animal response plan in a disaster situation where there is need for additional veterinary assessment, triage and care.

After seven months of training in everything from water rescue and state-federal law to alligator handling, the 41 cadets of the 55th Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Warden class have closed one chapter of their lives and begun a new one with their graduation Tuesday as state game wardens. The new game wardens will report for duty at stations spanning the state from East Texas to El Paso.

Well, the temperature was a wee bit more cool this Monday morning on the back porch, showing a low of 73 degrees at a little after 7:00 a.m. Not having checked the official means & extremes of the temps. as of late, I’m a bit hesitant to report on those.

The weather has been trying to get a bit more favorable that past few days with certain part of the County getting some moisture from a few scattered thunder showers. Even if you didn’t get much precipitation, at least it turned down the temperature, somewhat. The sign at the School offices showed 80 degrees when I went to the drugstore Mon.
