What a blessing the weather has been this week. The rain replenished my tank and the cool made recess time at school much more pleasant. I guess our spring flowers will appreciate it as well. I don’t have much grass growing in the pasture, but I have a ton of flowers showing off their colors.

There are so many things I find special about living in San Saba. I love the fact I now consider a traffic jam waiting for three cars to go by on 190 before I can make a left turn off a side street. I still think about the time a few years ago in my scattered brained way, I failed to sign a check for the light bill, the phone rang and I heard Susie’s voice say…”Lindy, did you know you forgot to sign your check?” I immediately went to correct my oversight and thought ...

In the great commission recorded in Matthew Jesus ended this by saying, “and lo, I am with you always…” I realize he has just commissioned his apostles to teach, baptize and to teach some more when he says this, but isn’t this true of all our lives? There are times that our thoughts are with someone when we are not together.

Houston Harte, Jr., president of the San Angelo Standard Times was the main speaker for the meeting of 60 teachers of San Saba, Richland Springs and Cherokee schools comprising the county unit of the Texas State Teachers Association.The San Saba County Commissioners Court met in special session Thursday, February 1 for the purpose to appoint three directors for the county hospital.

There has been no rain the past week. We had some nice, warm days, but today is cold and dreary. They say the old groundhog saw his shadow so supposedly, we are in for six more weeks of winter weather. I think we already knew that without him letting us know!

Farmers know what this means because it is a farmers nightmare. It is when a layer of dirt compacts below surface of the topsoil and becomes very hard. It can be several inches to several feet below the surface and it stops or severely limits crop production on farmland and you have to get big tractors and special plows to break it up if you want to cure it.
