On Saturday, December 13th, the residents had their Christmas party, where it was STANDING room only! Many friends and family members showed up for the joyous holiday occasion; and in addition to visiting with everyone, they were entertained by the VERY talented group, River Bend, which was established by and is under the direction of Kay Lynn Scott.

On December 20, 2008, Mary Elizabeth Miller and David Allen Sutton were united in holy matrimony. Mary's parents are Curtis Dana Miller of Mortegut, Louisiana, Teena Kaye Miller and Eford Dudley Norris of San Saba, Texas. David's parents are Jerry Dean and Betty Jean Sutton of San Saba, Texas. The marriage was held at Jerry and Betty Sutton's home at 11:30 a.m.

Pierian Study Club members and their guests gathered on December 11, 2008 at 6 o’clock in the evening in Cherokee, Texas, for a Christmas Open House in the home of Jane and Wardell Randolph. They were served from the dining table ladened with wonderful Christmas treats. The home had been transformed into a Christmas fantasy to the delight of those present.

It’s not everyday that a Nashville recording artist visits our humble little town, but that is exactly what happened Saturday, November 22nd at Harry’s Boot & Hat Store. Rick Trevino made an unexpected stop at Harry’s when visiting his friend, Brad Williams. Harry’s has been undergoing renovations for the last several months, and this last month Harry’s revealed its new Boot & Hat Store with food, live entertainment and giveaways.

See No Evil, Speak No Evil, A History of Mob Violence in the Texas Heartland, 1869-1904 is the title of Ross McSwain’s newest book. The San Saba County Historical Commission invites the community to hear Mr. McSwain on Tuesday, January 6th at the Rylander Memorial Library. His talk will begin at 1:00 p.m.

The San Saba County Chamber of Commerce held their annual Christmas on the Square event during the weekend of December 13th and 14th. The weekend started on Friday evening, with the judging of business and home decorations. The winner for best business decorations and the recipient of the perpetual trophy for 2008 was City National Bank.

Rosendo (Chan) Jimenez and Brenda Espinoza were united in Marriage on November 29, 2008, at Notre Dame Social Center in Kerrville, Texas. Rosendo is the son of Jesus and Juana Jimenez. Brenda is the daughter of Ismael and Conseulo Espinoza of Kerrville. The bride was walked down the isle by her son Logan.

Students volunteered their talents in community serviceto help raise funds for the Richland Springs Preservation Socity who in turn helps to revitalize Richland Springs’ historic bank building. The play, It’s Sad, So Sad When an Elf Goes Bad was presented last week at a dinner/theatre at the Richland Springs cafetorium.

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of San Saba ISD was held December 11th in the Central Administration Office. President Darrin Barker called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m. followed by the invocation and everyone joined for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. An Audit Report by Kline and Krause of Fredricksburg was outlined by Patrick Kline.

On November 22, 2008 Breana Leigh Kraft was crowned the 2009 Lampasas Today's' Baby. She will be traveling to Plano, Tx., in June 2009 to compete in the Today's Girls State Competition. Breana is the daughter of Wymond and Mindy Kraft and sister of Brenden Childers of San Saba. She is the granddaughter of Mike and Diane Wood of San Saba, Bruce & Ida Kraft of Waco, and Melvin & Rose Williams of Cherokee.
