On Sunday, May 19, 2013, shortly after 4:00p.m., the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department was paged out to a fire in the Harmony Ridge area. Gearldine (Patton) Preece went to heaven on May 8, 2013. Gearldine was born in Ohio to David and Floda Patton on December 29, 1955 and was one of ten children. She was the beloved wife of Jerome Dale Preece of San Saba, Texas whom she married on November 4, 1971.

As we approach National EMS Week, May 19 through 25, 2013, we strive to continue to educate the community in the event of an emergency. There are ways that we can all become 9-1-1 knowledgeable. Below are specific ways where you can be a helper in an emergency situation. The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, May 13th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the court to order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. Buddy Oliver and David Williams attended court to announce the Dedication at Harmony Ridge Cemetery as a Texas Historic Cemetery on June 9th at 2 p.m.

On May 8, 2013, the San Saba Grand Jury held its regular meeting to hear cases presented by the District Attorney's Office. Among the cases reviewed by the Grand Jury were Theft of Metal and Burglary investigations conducted by the San Saba Sheriff's Office. Investigations conducted by Deputies Matt Boswell and Mitchell Jacobson resulted in indictments being returned on three individuals.
