The San Saba JV football team played their final game against Coleman on Thursday, Nov. 6. They were victorious with a score of 49 to 19. The Armadillos were led with solid defense only allowing 230 total yards for the Bluecats. The swarming Dillo Defense played well all night by creating 10 negative yard plays and forcing 3 Bluecat turnovers. |

The State Board of Education (SBOE), a group much like the San Saba ISD School Board of Trustees will convene in a 4 day meeting this week to discuss several major policy issues that will have lasting marks on the education of our schools. San Saba 8th Grade Dillos finished off the 2008 season with a 20-14 win over the Coleman 8th Grade Bluecats in Coleman. The win finished off the season with 6 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. The 8th Dillos fell short of the District Title by 1 point with last weeks 7-6 loss to Comanche. |

The Coleman Bluecats defeated the San Saba Armadillos last Friday night at Hufford Field in Coleman keeping their slim playoff hopes alive. Coleman needed a victory and a loss by Early to make the playoffs. A large contingent from Comanche was in attendance supporting the Dillos. A San Saba win would have put the Indians in the playoffs. |

The Texas Wildlife Association Foundation (TWAF) and the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. (SALE) have awarded four $10,000 Natural Resource-Excellence in Education Scholarships to four deserving Texas youth. The scholarships were awarded to four freshmen at Texas universities who are majoring in natural resource related field such as agricultural science, wildlife science, forestry, range science, etc. Scholarships were awarded to Sarah Coffey of New Braunfels (Texas A&M University); Brenda Gibson of Bend (Tarleton State University); Josh Watson of Jayton (Angelo State University); and Annie Wolf of Byers (Texas Tech University). |

A good Homecoming crowd cheered the Varsity Coyotes to a 46-0 victory over the Veribest Falcons. The Varsity Coyotes are District 9 champions with a record of 10-0 on the year and a perfect 5-0 in district! The Varsity Coyotes bi-district game will be this Friday, November 14th at 7:30 p.m. |

On October 30th, these honors students from San Saba High School attended a Democracy-In-Action lecture featuring Dr. Paul F. Boller, Jr. Dr. Boller is one of the nation’s leading historians of the American Presidency. The lecture was sponsored by the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom at Howard Payne University. The Cherokee Indians saw their hopes for a playoff bid vanish as the Panther Creek Panthers outlasted them last Friday night. PC was able to keep fresh legs on the field and wore the Indians down in the 4th quarter. The Indians finished the season with a 6-4 record. The Indians scored first on a 50 yard run by Tucker Corsi. |

The San Saba Lady Dillos kicked off the 08-09 campaign last Monday in Burnet as they scrimmaged Burnet and Belton. We did some good things for our first scrimmage. We shot the ball really well and scrambled around in our jump defense. We still need to shore up some things for our first game but for our first scrimmage I was pleased. |
