After a Saturday, August 31st score of 73, Michael Whitley posted a score of 77 on Sunday and won his second San Saba Golf Club Championship. Michael previously won the championship in 2005.

The City Council of the City of San Saba met on Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 at 6: 00 p. m.

The San Saba Property Owners Association began its 38th year of service to taxpayers of San Saba County with election of officers at its August 26, 2008 Meeting. Harold Yates was elected President, Keith Shahan Vice President and Clovia Ketchum Secretary Treasurer. The purpose of the Property Owners Association is to provide a forum for the presentation of issues that are important to city and rural citizens of San Saba County.

The San Saba County Chamber of Commerce is raffling off a Weatherby Vanguard 22-250 rifle with a Bushnell 3-9 scope and carrying case. This is a fundraiser for the Chamber.

County Judge Byron Theodosis called to order the Monday, August 25th, meeting of the Commissioners' Court. Ricky Lusty gave the invocation followed by everyone joining in the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

Jack Brawn of Circle Back Farms of Cherokee will be the featured speaker at the Lunch &Learn Wednesday September 3rd, 12 noon at the Civic Center. Brawn will discuss fall gardening.

Texas AgriLife Extension Service’s annual Silver Clover Recognition Banquet celebrated its 41st year on August 1st with a banquet at the Zentner’s Daughter Steak House in San Angelo. This year’s event recognized 29 individuals who are instrumental to the success of District 7’s 4-H youth program.

The Cherokee Independent School District will hold trustee elections on November 4, 2008 in conjunction with the general election. This is a new requirement passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor during the third special session of the 79th legislature under provisions of House Bill 1.

Mayor Ken Jordan called to order the regular monthly meeting of the City Council of the City of San Saba on Tuesday, August 12th, at 6 p. m. The invocation was led by Martha Leigh Whitten, followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

Students and Parents, the time is almost here! The start of another school year! On August 25, students of San Saba ISD will begin another great year of school.
