Last time I wrote about modern quilts and was notified by a (usually) regular reader that he did not read that column as it held no interest for him. He advised me to provide some balance this time by writing on a “guy-friendly” topic. So today’s topic is taxidermy, which is not, I know, universally guy-friendly—but it is pretty close!
I have lots of taxidermy at my house.

The Llano Film Society will be sponsoring this week’s movie, Escape from Planet Earth. This PG movie will be showing on Friday, March 15th, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 16th, at 4:00 and 7:30 p.m.
This animated family comedy transports movie watchers to the planet Baab where the admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero.

It's that time again for Keep San Saba Beautiful Clean-up, registration to be held April 6th, 2013 at the Courthouse from 8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. Refreshments and hamburgers will be provided.
The San Saba Transfer Station and Recycle Center will be open from 8:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. On this special day, there will be NO fees for disposal of residential materials from San Saba City and County residents.
Volunteers during the April 6, 2013 clean-up are eligible for a drawing.

He was practicing a skit for a youth group and brought a crown made of thorns. The thorns were two inches or longer and as I looked at them I thought about the pain and humiliation Christ must have suffered on the cross. Some things in life you can't really understand unless you personally experience them.

One of the miracles that Jesus performed while on this earth was one that He did not intend to do. A synagogue official came to Jesus requesting He come because His daughter had just died. Jesus arose and followed this man. As he was going, there were crowds of people following and bumping into one another.

Marie Chambers, age 85, of Longview, formerly of Gatesville passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 due to a very long illness. She was cared for by her husband, family and many loving angels at Summer Meadows and HeartsWay Hospice. Funeral services were held at 3:30P.M., Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel.

"The Jerusalem Encounter" is coming to San Saba's First Baptist Church this Sunday, March 24th. Two performances will be held at 2:00 and 6:00p.m.
"The Jerusalem Encounter" is a live dramatic performance featuring a cast of seventy, a live orchestra, and cutting-edge multimedia presentations. This musical will feature contemporary Christian music artist, Dallas Holm.
Dallas Holm, an icon of Christian music, will be featured in the performance and will minister in the 10:30a.m.

On Saturday March 9th, the San Saba High School Power lifting team competed in the Regional Power Lifting meet in Riesel. As a team we finished 6th out of at least 30 schools. This is a wonderful accomplishment for these young men and our community. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments this week and their accomplishments throughout the year.

The San Saba City Council held a regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Mayor Pro-Tem, Shawn Oliver called the meeting to order and announced a quorum present with Mayor Ken Jordan absent. Alderman Charles Peeler gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.
Jason Vogel, a Sanitation employee, was presented the Employee of the Month Award.
