San Saba Lady Dillo Golf Team finishes 2nd in District to advance to the Regional Golf Tournament at Shady Oaks Golf Course in Baird, TX on April 15 and 16. Soph., Megan Jennings, led the way shooting a 97 and Fr., Hollee Ragsdale followed closely with an even 100; Fr., Emily Esquivel shot a 116, Jr., Elizabeth Bryant, a 119, Soph., Marissa Coffman-Spence a 119 and Soph., Britney Rixse a 122.

SSHS One Act Play competed in Zone competition in Hamilton with their production of Cinderella Waltz. The competition was very tough and the group was named Alternate Advancing play. All students involved worked very hard and put on a very good production. The cast and crew received the same number of awards as the advancing plays.

The San Saba Community Gardens is looking for "garden-angels" to adopt a plot for planting this spring. In 2012 through generous donations of time, talent and treasure from LCRA Community Development Partnership Program, the City of San Saba, Hill Country Community Action, The Home Depot Foundation Community Affairs Grant and hours of local volunteer labor, a beautiful garden area was developed behind the San Saba Senior Center.

The donations of generous contributors at San Saba’s annual Catkins Ball are currently being used to restore two historic downtown buildings. The property commonly known as the Burden Hotel has been renovated and only landscaping work is left to be completed. The other building now being restored is the San Saba County Courthouse Annex, formerly occupied by the City National Bank. The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, April 8th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge, Byron Theodosis called the Court to order. The San Saba County Tax Assessor’s office has moved from the second floor of the Courthouse down to the first (ground) floor on the southwest corner. The new office’s entrance is to the right of the west entrance on the ground floor. You cannot get to the office inside the Courthouse.

On Wednesday, March 20, the Richland Springs High School One Act Play, These Shining Lives, a true story by Melanie Marnich competed in the Zone level competition. The play received first place honors from a panel of three judges. Katelynn Teel, a senior, and Brooke Vaughn, a junior, were named to the All-Star Cast while Brooklyn McGinty, a senior, and Melanie Hedley, a junior, were named to the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast.

The ALCO company in San Saba is changing over to a different line of Hardware. According to David Butler, the store manager, he was instructed to donate the entire Hardware Department and the articles would be replaced with a new line of hardware. The recipient of this generous donation, worth $32,000.00 is Mission San Saba.

If you drove past Mill Pond last week, you probably noticed it was drained. The Parks Department had to do so to repair part of the north bank to stop seepage through the wall. Best estimates have the wall being built in 1922. Ninety one years of faithful use is a pretty good testimony to durability.

The Impace 2000 Plus Community Easter Egg Hunt is set for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Rogan Field. The event is open to all children eight years and younger. Easter Bunny will be there for photo opp. Lots of prizes for each race and a grand prize drawing for bikes.

The Board of Trustees of San Saba ISD held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, March 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Administration Office. On Saturday, March 23rd, Diego Montoya competed in the State Power Lifting Meet in Abilene, Texas. This meet had the top 13 lifters in the state of Texas in Division 3 (6man through 2a) competing against each other. We went into the meet with a great chance for a medal.

The 5th/6th grade San Saba Junior Lady Dillos (6-4) have quietly established themselves as tournament title contenders. The Lady Dillos finished in third place in the eight team field of the Goldthwaite Tournament held on March 2, only behind tournament champion San Saba 6th Grade JLD and runner-up, Bangs Lady Dragons.

On March 2, the 3rd/4th Grade San Saba Junior Lady Dillos (9-2) advanced to the championship game of the eight team field, Goldthwaite Tournament and finished in second place. On March 9, The Lady Dillos would once again advance to the championship game of the Zephyr Tournament and finish in second place.
