The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, May 13th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the court to order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.
Buddy Oliver and David Williams attended court to announce the Dedication at Harmony Ridge Cemetery as a Texas Historic Cemetery on June 9th at 2 p.m.

On May 8, 2013, the San Saba Grand Jury held its regular meeting to hear cases presented by the District Attorney's Office. Among the cases reviewed by the Grand Jury were Theft of Metal and Burglary investigations conducted by the San Saba Sheriff's Office. Investigations conducted by Deputies Matt Boswell and Mitchell Jacobson resulted in indictments being returned on three individuals.

In the early morning hours of April 22, 2013, individuals burglarized several locations in San Saba and attempted to burglarize the Armadillo Carwash. One of the places burglarized was the "Ice House" located at the "Hawg Waller" just south of San Saba. Another place burglarized was the movie kiosk at the Dollar General Store on south High Street which resulted in the theft of over $13,000.00 worth of movies and video games.

The Texas Association of High School Coaches recently honored Sr., Jeffrey Hoyt with “Academic All-State.” Jeffrey maintained a 96 GPA and is ranked 12th out of 51 in the Senior class. Jeffrey was nominated out of respect for his academic accolades as well as his character on and off the golf course.

Lometa Police Department and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help for any information on several burglaries in Lometa in April. Numerous items have been taken: a 46inch flat screen tv, a chainsaw, a laptop computer and a 9 millimeter pistol.

The San Saba High School Alumni Association (SSHSAA), as part of its ongoing effort to honor former students, will present its eighth Spring Sports Alumni Award at the Spring Sports Banquet to an alumni athlete who excelled in a spring sport. The SSHSAA is pleased to give this award this year to Yancey Sanderson.

The San Saba City Council held a Public Hearing prior to the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. The Public Hearing was to receive input on a proposed annexation. No citizens were present to give input on the proposed annexation.

The San Saba Garden Club’s recognition of “Yard of the Month” for the new year 2013 and for April goes to Pat and Bill Grusendorf of 401 W. Dry Street in San Saba. The couple moved into the home in 1974 when they moved to San Saba from Lampasas. The “Martin” home was built in 1926 after the family home on the grounds was burned down in a fire.

Kelan Verette, a Junior at San Saba High School, was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region Team for Region II, Class A Div. 1. Kelan averaged 23 points per game and was an 80% Free Throw shooter this year in district play. Kelan is the son of Kevin Verette and Jennifer Saiz and the grandson of Roger and Sue Verette and Madeleine Reynolds.
