REV.13:5-8 "And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. (6) And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against GOD, to blapheme HIS name, and HIS tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. (7) And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them and power was given unto him over kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Every parent knows that some times kids won’t eat new foods, but that doesn’t mean that they will never eat that food. Kids change their minds often so if you offer that same food again they may decide they like it, gobble it up and ask for seconds. It is good to encourage a child to try new foods.
Lessons From Tragedy
Recently, an earthquake has destroyed Port au Prince Haiti. The 7.1 quake tore down homes and buildings and has displaced numerous people. It’s hard for us to imagine the magnitude of the destruction that has taken place. There is no electricity, food, water or medical supplies. People have been buried alive as buildings have collapsed.

Mars Closest for This Trip Around the Sun
If you've been out in the early evening lately, perhaps you've noticed Jupiter, which has been dominating the evening sky the past several months, now sinking closer to the setting Sun in the west. An elderly couple strolls through the park hand in hand. We watch. It’s better by far to be a couple walking together clasping hands. Similarly, it’s not enough to carefully observe God’s love. We must also experience it. On one side, "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"
Not much news from around the Bend this week, think it must have been washed away with all of the rain. This last week, everyone in the county received rain and more rain. Four inches was received at the Bend and all of the tanks overflowed. The cold wet weather was hard on the livestock, but putting out extra cubes and hay helped them to make it okay.
Mind Over Matter…
Keeping mind, soul and body together is a worthy lifetime goal. A challenge in advancing years is to ignore age, when possible. (Love that welcome sign in Florida: "where mid-life begins at 70.") The Australian Open is over and the Men’s Final was a superb match. I think what has impressed me over the years watching Roger Federer is his awesome sportsmanship. He is a class act. No, in your face looks or actions; his racquet speaks for him. I hope my tennis players took the time to watch some of his match.
Rural Health Care Challenges
Health care is a hot-button issue for most Americans, including Texans living in rural areas. Many of our farmers and ranchers face serious challenges in acquiring adequate preventative and emergency care. Compared to urban areas, most rural communities lack critical access to health care facilities, primary care physicians and other medical professionals. Reportedly, only about 10 percent of physicians practice in rural areas nationwide.
