Do you have a habit of eating when you are bored, lonely, stressed out, depressed or even tired? Sometimes we find ourselves eating, not because we are hungry, but because we are going through different emotions and we reach out to food for comfort.
What is Mindful eating?
Mindful eating is simply defined as being conscious of why you are eating.

Sometimes I get frustrated. Do you? I am walking on crutches, have a huge “boot” on my foot and cannot do the things I have been doing. At times I am frustrated and want to shout out loud. Sadly, Cyndi, my wife, has taken the brunt of my frustration and she has been very good to me.

Reading Recommendations: Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War, How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World, Patrick J. Buchanan.
Were World Wars I and II, which can now be seen as a thirty year paroxysm of slaughter and destruction, inevitable? Were they necessary wars? Were the bloodiest and most devastation conflicts ever suffered by mankind fated by forces beyond man's control?

If it’s the same to you, I’d rather start off this week with something but the weather. I know many a scribe that pens columns such as this that suffer from similar maladies, but seem to continue on the vein. Anyhow, here goes, even though I might have to bring it up on down the sheet.

Dear Editor,
For the past eight years and seven weeks I have served the people of San Saba County in the Tax Assessor's office. I have worked hard and tried to accommodate the people. I believe an elected official and those employed there should always have the people's best interest in mind.

It depends on the weather and where you live. Light pollution or city lights can also limit your view. It is estimated that on the average you can see 5,000 to 6,000 stars on a good night with the naked eye.
The Yale Bright Star Catalogue has 9,110 stars listed that have a magnitude of 6.5 and are visible to the naked eye.

An American doctor was making a visit to a hospital in London. As the staff was showing him around, he became interested in their system of abbreviation.
S.F. stood for scarlet fever. T.B. stood for tuberculosis. But he was puzzled by the letters GOK.
"What do they mean?" he asked.
"When we don't know what's wrong with a patient,"

Gen. 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. To understand the truths I am presenting in this article, one must believe that God is Sovereign, all powerful, and completely without limitations. Enoch is walking one day and communing with God; when suddenly he disappears without warning, and is translated, (removed from one place to another: removed to heaven without dying: Webster's 1828 Dictionary) out of this world into the presence of God.

Another week without rain. A couple of days in the 70’s and then bingo back down to the low 50’s, and from all the weather news it looks like some more of the same for this week. We could be thankful that we didn’t have eleven inches of snow that some had up north, but it is moisture which is more than what we can say around here.
Jerome and Shirley Meischen returned home last week from Phoenix, Arizona where they attended the Texas and Ohio football game at the Fiesta Bowl.

This is Youth Fair and Stock Show week. Until a few years ago I was unaware that schools closed down for those things. Now that I’ve been here for a while it makes perfect sense. In Dallas, you get a day off for the State Fair, they even take a school day.

Local school trustees work tirelessly and devote countless hours to empower students to excel. January has been set aside as a special time for communities to say thanks to board members for caring so much about the future of every child enrolled in our public schools.
The staff and students at Richland Springs will help prepare an appreciation meal for our board members prior to the January 19th board meeting.

My apologies for not having an article last week, Tuesday rolled around and I realized that I had missed the journalism deadline.
We have played two games since my last article capturing two wins and we had a much needed open date where we worked on our cardiovascular lung capacity volume.

Coaches Comments: We did not play as aggressive as we usually do. Our press did not force turnovers. We rebounded and shot fairly well. When they made their run in the third quarter, we did not match it.

Last Tuesday the JV traveled to early for another game in district play. We were able to defeat Early’s JV 37-30. I was very happy with the effort the girls gave throughout the game. We jumped on them early on the defensive end by pressuring them full court. This created quite a bit of turnovers and some easy buckets for us.

The second semester is upon us and it will go by very quickly. The spring semester brings with it much athletic, academic, stock show participation and other activities that impact school attendance. The bottom line is, that we need your kiddos in school each and every day and if they are out on an approved activity or regular absence, please encourage them to complete their homework and any missed projects.

By Missy King, Prevention Specialist Central Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse
Some teens are mixing drugs because they think it will help them get high.
Many youth don’t understand the dangers of combining prescription drugs with alcohol or illicit drugs. Mixing some of these drugs can slow the heart and respiration—and lead to death. Most unintentional poisoning deaths result from the abuse of prescription and illegal drugs.1
Today’s teens abuse prescription drugs to get high more than any illicit drug except marijuana.2 Even more troubling?
