One of the smallest words in our vocabulary is the word “If.” If always carries a condition with it. When you tell your child, “If you will keep your room clean for one week, I will give you a new bike.” For the child to receive the bike, the room would have to be clean each and every day.

The Commissioner's Court last Tuesday purchased an improved Burroughs Adding Machine. This will no doubt prove a good investment as it will save much time for the commissioners in checking the tax-assessor's rolls and the tax-collector's monthly reports especially. Usually county commissioners are men not accustomed to adding long columns of figures and it is slow work for them.

Reading Recommendations: Life and Death in the Third Reich, Peter Fritzsche.
On January 30, 1933, hearing the celebrations for Hitler's assumption of power, Erich Ebermayer remarked bitterly in his diary, "We are the losers, definitely the losers." Learning of the Nuremberg Laws in 1935, which made Jews noncitizens, he raged, "hate is sown a million fold".

Columbus Day, Halloween, and Veterans’ Day are barely by and here we are already picking out the right size turkey for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was hardly ever a very big family gathering as I was growing up, being that most of them were spent out at Deer Camp, enjoying the long weekend from school & such.

Dear Editor,
I would personally like to thank Oscar Zepeda along with Daniel Zepeda and Kim Kirk for their organization of our Little Dribblers League.
Many people do not realize the time that Oscar puts in for the youth of San Saba. You can either see him coaching basketball, football or putting on a referee shirt to help where necessary.

Two little girls were talking about God.
"I know God doesn't hear my prayers, " cried one. "He couldn't care for such a little girl like me."
"That's what God's for," said the other, "to take care of little girls like us who can't take care of themselves."
No child is too small to talk to God, and no adult is too old.

Psalms 119:89 "For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven." There are those of us who believe that. I do realize that we will never be able to understand all that the Bible teaches, nor can we live to the letter, all that we do understand about it.

Woke up Sunday to a very cool morning. There was ice on the bird bath and ice on the windshield of the car. The afternoon turned off to be very pleasant, but the entire week will be cooler than usual. It is the middle of November so what can you expect, and Turkey day is just around the corner.

There’s a winter chill in the air! I can hear all the hunters rejoicing and wimps like me saying oh no not winter! We’ve all been talking about how fast this year has gone. I find it hard to believe Christmas is just a little over a month away!
I trotted over to San Antonio.

It has been a major news topic lately and everybody wants to get on the bandwagon. They all want government bailouts or the government to pump large amounts of money into their businesses or corporations. Whether they really need it or just want it is another question. One thing, they are all looking for the US Government for help.

The Varsity Coyotes bi-district game on November 14th against a very good Strawn team ended the Coyotes post district play with a 83-72 loss. The grass should be greener at Hico because a lot of Coyote tears were shed. Congratulations to the football team and coaches on another good year.

Well, all good things must come to an end and that's exactly what happened last Friday night. The Richland Springs Coyotes, winners of 38 straight wins, fell to the Strawn greyounds by a score of 83-72. It was a hard fought, high scoring slug fest.
The Coyotes jumped out to an early lead, but Strawn's powerful rushing attack quickly responded.
