The Road to Recovery® program provides cancer patients, with transportation to and from treatment. The recruitment of volunteers for this life-saving service, especially in the context of the current economical conditions, is crucial for the well-being of cancer patients.

You might think that the little bit of mold on your bread or on top of your cream cheese is easily cut away and discarded. What most people don’t know is that, like an iceberg, there is a lot more than what you are able to see.
We think of mold as being that fuzzy green, white or brown stuff growing on the surface of food.

This past few weeks has seen some true devastation in our country. Hurricane Fay landed in Florida and decided it did not want to leave in any particular hurry. It left Florida with a true soaking like it hasn’t had in a while.
Then a week ago Gustav made its way into the Gulf and floods in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana were recorded.

I’d suppose that most of yall probably enjoyed the cooler mornings from the recent front that we got out of the North last week.
Everyone I visited with during the 3-4 days readily commented on the welcoming of Fall type weather and temperature. The only thing that could have been improved upon those days would have been about a 2 inch rain all over our fair County.
As I’ve mentioned in prior editions of the “News,” one of the advantages of penning a column such as this is the fact o ...

Dear Editor:
Isn't it time for a change? In light of San Saba High School's past football record over the past four years, when is enough, enough?
Coach Johnson's record presently amassed is a terrible record with four wins and 36 losses over his last four years as the Athletic Director/Head Coach of San Saba High School's football team.

A man in Jacksonville, Florida, discovered a two-headed lizard.
The heads are at opposite ends. When it tries to walk, its legs move in opposite directions.
That lizard reminds me of the Bible verse: "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways."
He's a man with two heads. One believes, the other doesn't.

Some people seem to have tremendous reserves of inner strength. Where do they get it? They may exhort us to look to ourselves for that power, the power of positive thinking, etc.
Real power for living, or I should say, any power for living, comes from without. It comes from God.

As parents of public school age students, you too have access through the Internet to some tools that can help you help your child.
