Howard Payne University’s Symphonic Band and Concert Choir will join forces with the Brownwood Community Chorus and the Central Texas Community Band to present the 28th Annual American Music Spectacular on Tuesday, April 23. The free event is open to the public and will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, located at 1815 Coggin Ave. in Brownwood.

The theme for this year’s concert is “Folk Songs and Spirituals,” a celebration of all things Americana in music. Conductors for the program are HPU’s Dr. Jonathan Kraemer, director of bands and assistant professor of music, and Dr. Christopher Rosborough, associate professor of music and director of choral activities.

Dr. Kraemer expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming concert.

“We are excited to be able to continue this special long-standing HPU tradition of celebrating our American music heritage and honoring our military service men and women and first responders,” he said.
