With the 2021 Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) coming to a close, we would like to share the 2020 Honoring Texas Victims report published by Texas Council on Family Violence (tcfv. org) with you. The number of Texans, ranging from 14 years old to 90 years old, killed by intimate partners totalled 228, as well as 31 family, friends and bystanders were killed, and an additional 17 family, friends and bystanders were injured in the process.

Locally, the Dove Project has had an increase in requests for emergency shelter in 2021. We have had 55 new clients, continued services for 110 clients, and have received 437 hotline calls.

We are grateful for the continued support we receive from our caring community and would like to close out this month with the results of our favorite DVAM activity, the Purple Paw Parade! We had nine playful pooches come strut their stuff around the courthouse in their pet abuse awareness gear. Pictured above are a few of the participating doggos.
