Velma Marie Ketchum, 89, of San Saba passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008 in Brownwood. Velma was born December 6, 1919 in Cherokee, Texas, the daughter of James P. Ketchum and Lillian Herring Ketchum. Velma worked as a housekeeper for the Eventide Nursing Home and attended the Parkview Baptist Church.

Velma is survived by one brother: James Ketchum and his wife Jeannine of Burnet and one sister: Louise Hyman of Richland Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers, Elvin Ketchum; Lee Ketchum; Ollie Ketchum; Lonnie Ketchum, and Howard Ketchum.

Services were held Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home, with Rev. Barry Fikes officiating. Interment followed at the Ebony Cemetery in Mills County.

The family received friends, Friday, December 26, 2008, 5:00-6:00 PM at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
