A light shower fell early Friday morning. Just enough to leave some water on the pavement. The Price computer was sick and a flying trip to Goldthwaite to get the bugs worked out of it on Friday, there was a light mist on the windshield until just out of Lometa and from there to Goldthwaite not even a sprinkle. The sun came out and that was that.
Phil B and Winnie Lou McCoury reported that they had most of their kids and grand-kids over the Thanksgiving holiday and everyone enjoyed their selves.
Phil B reported that he had some outside work lined up for them to do when they arrived. Now they were not standing alongside the road with a sign saying “will work for food,” but as it turned out that is exactly what they did. That is called using your head!
The home of Tommie and Jane Tinney was overflowing with children and grandchildren from Wednesday until Sunday morning. They started arriving Wednesday and by Thursday there were nineteen people. Those who arrived were Alton, Kim, Trey and Trevor Tinney, of San Saba; Jerry and Anne Reyes of San Saba; Gary, Melinda, Jacob and Shelby Rose Freeland of Canyon Lake; Donnie, Mindy, Brady, Nicholas and Erica Freeland of Grand Prairie; Logan Liles and friend Meg of Arlington. This was the first time for Jane’s brother Don Liles to miss coming for Thanksgiving, but he had been ill and was unable to attend.
Tuesday, Jamie, A.J. and Andrew Houdyshell left for Dora, New Mexico where they visited relatives and returned home Friday in order to be with all the cousins.
Jack and LaNell Daniels spent Thanksgiving with his sister and other family members.
Emerson and Gladys Brister celebrated Thanksgiving dinner at the old Brister home place with family members. Attending was Thomas Brister and girlfriend of Hutto; Walter Brister and children Eathon, Elliott and Hunter of Hutto; Elsa Dean Shirley of N. M. and Kenneth Shirley of Claude,TX.; Doug, Kristi, Jordan and Jaylee Messer of Lampasas; William and Jane Clark.
Friday, November 28 will be the cousins’ night at the home of William and Jane Clark. , Walter Brister and children Eathon and Elliott of Thorndale, Elsa Dean Shirley of Portales, N.M. and her grandchildren Cayman and Timber Rogers of Cloud Croft, N. M. and son Kenneth Shirley of Claude, Texas; Neal and Alisha Moon of Alamogorda, N.M.; Boyd, Melissa, Eli and Silas Clark of Lubbock; Bobby and Kit Clark of Round Rock. From Lampasas Doug, Kristi, Jordan and Jaylee Messer and from the Bend Jack and LaNell Daniels, Tammy and Tessie Fullerton and grandson Kyle Tomlinson of Lampasas; Jamie, Andrew and A.J. Houdyshell, R. J. and Patsy Henniger, Dickey Eckhoff, Bob and Doris Poe of Moline.
Saturday night November 29 there was a celebration of the late Edmond and Elsie Henniger Christmas get together at the Clark home.
Rufus and Tommye Cobern celebrated their Thanksgiving with fifteen family members at the Cobern ranch. There was plenty of good food and lots of visiting. Sunday morning Tommye awoke very ill and was taken to the Rollins Brook hospital. She is in room 208. As of Sunday night she reported to be feeling much better.
Bill and Jo Price had his nephew Jim, Patty, and Thomas Caughman and a friend Juan from Houston over Turkey day. They arrived Wednesday afternoon and stayed until Friday afternoon. They had planned on staying until Saturday, but their son Thomas wasn’t feeling well and they felt he should be home in order to see his doctor. Robert, Spring and Haley Price also celebrated Thanksgiving with the Price family.
Jerome and Shirley Meischen had twenty people for Thanksgiving day. A delicious dinner which was prepared by the women. Afterward everyone went home to watch grandson Blake Gideon play in the UT-A&M game. UT won 48-09. Everyone was disappointed about the standings of the Longhorns rating of #3, thinking that they should have been #2, having beaten the #2 team.
Sunday a birthday celebration was held at the home of Tim and Chee Chee Brockman. The celebration was for Chee Chee. Members of family attending to help her celebrate were Pennye Pierce, Toni Mayben, R.J. and Patsy Henniger; William and Jane Clark; Andrew and A.J. Houdyshell; Jake Lackey and son from San Saba.
Happy birthday goes out to Lewvon Hicks who will celebrate a birthday December 5, to Chee Brockman who will celebrate her birthday Sunday December 7, and Sylvia Stinnett will celebrate her birthday December 7, OraBeth Hicks and John Hicks will celebrate a birthday December 8, and Jimma Hicks will celebrate a birthday December 9.
