The local Child Welfare Board is asking for your help in making this Christmas better for a deserving child in this county by supporting the “Angels Unaware” program. After Thanksgiving, members will place a Christmas tree decorated with small red and green angels in the atrium of the Arrowhead Plaza building in San Saba. Each anonymous “angel” is numbered, has the child’s age and gender, and, if available, clothing sizes or interests of the child. Our anticipation is that as many concerned persons as there are children-in-need will take one or more of the “angels” from the tree and attach it to an appropriate unwrapped new toy, gift, or collection of items. We are pleased to report that this year gifts will be wrapped as a high school student community service project and delivered by the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department.
Please take this opportunity to brighten a child’s holiday by this small act of kindness. Persons unable to go to the bank and choose an angel from the tree or to select a gift thereafter may mail their request/donation to the board in care of Angels Unaware, 500 East Wallace Street, #203, San Saba, Texas 76877 or any child welfare board member. Gifts may be left at Sister’s Country Store or the Dollar General Store in San Saba or they may be given to any Child Welfare Board member, for delivery around December 23. A price limit of $30 was set to make the giving equitable and affordable.
And, if you should know the name, address, and gift preferences for a disadvantaged child, please contact Jennifer Fleming or David Williams, CWB Angels Chairman, at 372-3747 no later than December 12 to be included in this year’s sign-up and gift delivery drive.
Thank you all and may God richly bless your Christmas!
