There are many things that have become a tradition in San Saba when it comes to the holidays. The biggest and most traditional thing being the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. This is the 9th year for friends and family to come together.

Approximately 500-650 people come to the Father’s House fellowship hall where lively music, face painting for the children, and beautiful decorations are just a part of the wonderful spread of turkey, dressing, and all the fixings that go with a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner.

Super S Grocery is donating 30 turkeys for the event and some of San Saba’s finest cooks are smoking the turkeys. Of course, none of this could happen without lots of volunteers who pull the turkey meat on Wednesday, and the fine folks with the Sweat Equity Group who come from four different cities to decorate. Thursday morning, local volunteers start the cooking around 8 a.m. and by 11a.m. people start arriving. Many choose to take their dinners home from the takeout line, while others enjoy the atmosphere of the Fellowship Hall.

It’s all about community and when we say community we are not only referring to the fine folks who volunteer but to all that come and eat, too.

So, bring the whole family to the Father’s House fellowship hall from 11a.m. - 1p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. A good time and a good meal can be enjoyed by all and the best part it’s all free!
