The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met November 6, 2008 for the monthly business meeting with the President, Anita Miles, calling the meeting to order and opening with prayer by the Club Chaplain, Nell McHorse. The Secretary, Hattie Rogers, read the minutes and they were approved as read. Our Treasurer, Bobby Churchill, is at home recovering from surgery; therefore, we didn’t have a financial report. We did get a good report on Bobby. She is not in as much pain and is doing well. We do miss Bobby!
The ladies discussed purchasing fountains for the ponds at the golf course and this will be pursued in the coming months.
It was unanimously voted to change the meeting time to 9:00 a.m. year round. This has been changed back and fourth through the years but the ladies that have to travel the furthest preferred this time change.
The Christmas Party will be at the RV Park Community Room and the date will be announced after discussion with Betty Ann Johnson, our caterer. Nell McHorse, Pat Ribb, Sandee Hartley, Jo Ann Snow, Dorothy Sterner, Jo Anne Hardy, Hattie Rogers, and Anita Miles were present for the meeting.
The meeting adjourned for play day with the Chair for November, Hattie Rogers, calling for a game of “Best at Something.” You were awarded one point for each time your drive was in the fairway, you were on the green in regulation, or had a one putt. You had to deduct one point if you lost your ball, your ball was in a hazard, or you three putted. This is a fun game that will improve your golfing habits. First place went to Dorothy Sterner and that was no surprise. Dorothy is known for hitting her balls straight and in the fairway. Second place went to Hattie Rogers who is also a consistent steady golfer. Sandee Hartley had the Low Gross and the Low Net for the day.
We are still having beautiful weather at the San Saba River Golf Course but know our days are numbered. But as long as there is sunshine on our shoulders and maybe even when it’s just a little chilly and damp we will be out there “swinging!”
