The San Saba County Commissioners Court met at 9 a.m. Monday, November 10th in the County Judge’s Chambers. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order and Ricky Lusty gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges of allegiance to the American and Texas flags.

Judge Theodosis reported that the funding for the restoration of the Court house has “backed off” because of the economy. Roger McGehee reported that the roof of the Courthouse is leaking - damage around the clock and other areas.

Action was taken on the following county official reports:

* District Clerk Kim Wells’ office has been busy before, during and after the election. The Clerk’s Report was approved. Thursday Nov. 13th at 9:30 am was set to Canvas votes from the election with Kim Wells. At least two commissioners and the Judge will be at the meeting.

* County Treasurer Gayla Hawkins submitted her reports and they were approved. County Attorney Williams requested that the commissioners court get information on when the financial reports should be published in The News.

* The Commissioners approved the Justice of the Peace Report.

* The average for the jail was 5.96 per day. Some adjustments were needed when the jail was inspected recently; no structural concerns. The Sheriff’s Jail Report was approved.

No action was needed on the following reports:

County Extension Agents; County Indigent Health Care Program Director; County Grant Writer; County EMS Billing; County Emergency Management Coordinator; County On-Site Sewage Facility Management Coordinator; County 9-1-1 Coordinator; County Damage Management Technician Report (Trapper)

Special Action was taken on the following items:

a. Appointed Ricky Lusty as Board Member of the San Saba County Appraisal District Board of Directors to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of David Williams.

b. Approved 2008-08 Resolution for Technology - to add a court fee to update essential future funds. The vote will go to our Legislatures.

c. Tabled a drainage for a private road.

d. Tabled the proposed revision to San Saba County Commissioner Precinct Lines. (This was listed as approved in last meeting but there was no action taken).

e. Marsha Hardy reported that three of our Fire Departments wanted the Burn Ban to remain lifted and one Fire Department wanted the Burn Ban enacted. After comments from each commissioner, the Burn Ban will remain lifted. There is hope for rain this week and if we don’t get any soon, there will be a change in the Burn Ban status.

f. The commissioners approved the payment of bills with some EMS and 911 bills to be paid from the Law Enforcement Education Account.

g. Approved the minutes of the previous Commissioners Court meeting.

County Attorney Williams will make arrangements for a representative of the LCRA to be at our next meeting. Also on the agenda will be information pertaining to $100 per month requested for the District Juvenile Judge. After setting the next Commissioners Court meeting for 1:30 pm Monday, November 24th, Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting.
