The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met October 30, 2008 for play day with three guests, Sharon Early, Judy Fenton, and Marilyn Kerr all from Brownwood, Texas.

The ladies picked a good day to visit the San Saba ladies as three members were in Halloween costumes. Anita Miles had on a halloween shirt and socks with blinking lights, and Jo Anne Hardy and Sandee Hartley had on matching Halloween shirts and socks!

The Chair for October, Dorothy Sterner, brought ghosts to tie on your cart that waved in the wind in the spirit of the season and she also handed out Halloween balls with a black bat on the golf ball for the game. The ladies played a game they call “The Pink Ball” where the ball is passed from one member of the team to another and the one with the pink ball gets to count their score for the team. And the team that doesn’t loose their pink ball is usually the winner. However; no team survived and came in with the original ball so the winners were determined by score.

The first place team was Hattie Rogers, Jo Ann Snow, Sharon Early, and Sandee Hartley. The second place team was Anita Miles, Priscilla Muse, Judy Fenton, and Marilyn Kerr. Jo Anne Hardy, Dorothy Sterner, and Becky Hardin played as the other team.

Anita Miles, Jo Anne Hardy, and Priscilla Muse all chipped in to split the chip in pot and Marilyn Kerr scored the only birdie of the day and the Low Gross for the day. Dorothy Sterner scored the Low Net for the day.

We were delighted to have guests and had a great fellowship with golfing and then lunch.

Bobby Churchill is recovering from her recent surgery at home and we are going to really miss Bobbie! She is a faithful member and great golfer and she will be back on the links!

November 6, 2008 will be the monthly business meeting followed by play. We will be planning our Christmas Party and voting on purchasing decorative fountains for the ponds on the golf course. If you haven’t paid your dues for 2009 you may contact Anita Miles and do so, due to the fact our Treasurer, Bobby Churchill, is under the weather right now.

WELCOME HUNTERS! San Saba is glad you chose San Saba and if you have time from the big hunt, please visit our beautiful San Saba River Golf Course. It will make you want to return to San Saba for a day of golfing! It’s a grand place to be “swinging!”
