The San Saba Garden Club met at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7th. President Nancy Nelson called the meeting to order. A business meeting was conducted, and this included the annual December Tour of Homes. It was agreed that the club forgo the tour this year because of difficulty in finding interested homeowners. Marcia Chown gave some excellent tips on using native plantings.

The Fall Zone Meeting will be in Goldthwaite on November 7th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Methodist Church Family Life Center. Nell Ziegler will demonstrate flower arrangements. Scholarship applications are available for a student studying Horticulture, Landscape Design, etc. Contact Hazel McCoy in Goldwaite at 325 938-5350 for the paperwork.

The program was presented by Aileen Roberts who gave an overview of the Texas Master Gardener Program. If anyone is interested, contact Carolyn McDowell at the San Saba Courthouse.

Next week, first Tuesday in November, the club will meet at the clubhouse in Mill Pond Park at 11:00 a.m. Special speaker will be Marlene Gillman, District V Director. She will speak on Pocket Gardens.

Hostesses for October were Dorothy Miller, Marcia Chown, and Anna Wilson. Sharon Hayes said the prayer prior to lunch, and she also took the table arrangements (designed by Marcia Chown) to the nursing home for the residents to enjoy. After the shared salad lunch, the meeting adjourned.
