Mrs. Poochie (Wilma) Johnson, 87, of Cherokee, Texas passed away, Friday October 10, 2008 in San Saba. She was born May 6, 1921 in San Saba, the daughter of William Gage and Molly Taylor Gage.
On October 17, 1947, Wilma Gage and A.F. (Poochie) Johnson were married in Brownwood, Texas. He preceded her in death July 19, 1983. She attended the First Baptist Church in San Saba. Wilma was an employee of Sterners Dry Goods for 20 years. She loved working in the yard, but the most important thing in her life was her family.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Johnson and his wife Pam of Dallas; and Richard Johnson of Dallas; two daughters, Mary Low and her husband James of Cherokee; and Melody Ball and her husband Jim of Cherokee. Grandchildren, Sid Ball and his wife Kristi of Lampasas; Stacy Gage and her husband Blake of San Antonio; Stan Ball and his wife Dawn of San Antonio; Jeff Low and his wife Wynona of Cherokee; Chris Mason and his wife Candi of Dallas; Brad Mason of Frisco, and Marcalyn Bradley of Plano. Great-Grandchildren : Jessica, Jenna, and Jamie Ball of Lampasas; Lauren Ball of San Antonio; Justin Low of Cherokee; Jack and Jordan Mason of Dallas; and Elizabeth Bradley of Plano. One sister, Norene Letbetter of San Saba and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Wilton Gage; Jr. Gage; Thurman Gage, and Bobby Gage. Three sisters, Estelle Gray; Oneida Roy, and Wanda Wells.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 12, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Simmons officiating. Interment followed at the San Saba City Cemetery.
Family received friends Saturday, October 11, 2008, 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home.Family request that memorials be made to the San Saba County Volunteer EMS or the donors favorite charity.
Funeral Services were under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
