The Llano County Historical Commission is sponsoring a photo display that will be held in our historic courthouse October 18, the day of the Heritage Day Festival. Everyone has pictures that were taken through the years of a house, building, or someplace special that brings back memories.

Think of the many places in Llano County that have been completely remodeled, or demolished that were captured on film and hidden away in a scrapbook. We want you to share them that day to delight not only early day citizens, but newcomers to Llano as well.

Think of places in Tow, Bluffton, Lone Grove, Kingsland , Valley Springs, Prairie Mountain, Castell, Click, the Sunrise Beach and Horseshoe Bay area , Baby Head, Field Creek, and Six Mile, and other areas through out parts of Llano County that were near and dear, and no longer around. At one time there were cotton gins, schools, churches, stores, blacksmith shops, and post offices. There were many places in the Lake Buchanan and lakeshore drive area such as the Bluebonnet Café, Buchanan Club, and the Starlight Lounge and many fishing camps. In the town of Llano there was the Club Llano, early day car dealerships, service stations, Buckhorn Café, and Dew Drive Inn, and even a photo of one of our old movie theaters. Are there train photos that had an early day presence in Llano County in someone’s attic?

The rules are simple, they do not have to be framed, but be sure to identify the place and owner of the photo and phone number. They can be in a scrapbook or attached to a poster board. All will be returned to the owners. Call the Main Street office at 325-247-4158 Ex. 209 for information.
