Rosa Dyess 95, died in Llano, Sunday, September 7, 2008. She was a resident of San Saba County until 2004 when she moved to Kingsland and in 2005 relocated to Care Inn in Llano, Texas where she lived until her death. She was first and foremost a homemaker and mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and Super Granny. Her business life was spent as a laundry worker and a laundry owner-operator until her retirement. The focus of her life after retirement was family, friends , and all holidays and special events in all her families lives. Her hallmark, sweet smile will be remembered by all who knew her, and will be sorely missed by her loving family and a host of friends and extended family.
She is survived by three daughters: Corene Dyess Conner of Alto, New Mexico; Barbara Dyess Wilson of Austin, Texas and Alberta Dyess Allred and her husband Jerry of Kingsland, TX. One son Claude (Hopper) Dyess and wife Sherry of Cortez, Colorado. Twelve Grandchildren: Gary Conner and wife Cindy of Alto, New Mexico; Greg Conner of Alto, New Mexico; Terry Wadkins of Mullin, Texas; Sammy Ethridge and wife Dottie of Waco; Patricia Bates Dyer of Waco, TX; Matthew Kuykendall and JoAnn of Elgin, TX; Scott Kuykendall and wife Claudine of Elgin, TX; Lea Ann Wilson of Austin, TX; Douglas Dyess of Cortez, Colorado, Byron Tucker and wife Karen of Clifton, Colorado, Chris Dyess and wife Laura of Rangeley, Colorado; and Angela Allred of Lockhart, TX. Eighteen Great-Grandchildren: Amy Wadkins Rawlinson and Cody of Port Lavaca, TX; Judy Wadkins Silva and Joebert of Leander, TX; Ryan Wadkins and Lesli of Austin, TX; Sarah Conner of Austin, TX; Amanda Ethridge Gossett and Ryan of Waco, TX, Amber Ethridge of Waco TX; Samantha and Chris Bates of Waco, TX; Heather, Kevin, Charity, and Conner Kuykendall of Elgin; Josh Douglas of Granbury: TX; Arielle and Kyle Tucker of Clifton, Colorado; Alex, Jackie and Brittany Mackey of Rangeley, Colorado. Four Great-Great Grandchildren to whom she was Super Granny, Kaitlyn and Avery Silva of Leander, TX; Mandi Rawlinson of Port Lavaca, and Austin Gossett of Waco, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Johnnie Talley and Margaret Jane Johnson Talley; husband Ramon Claude Dyess, three sisters, Elva Dyess, Hester Watson and Vivian Violet Talley; one brother, Everett Talley; one daughter, Sarah Nadine Chapman; Three granddaughters, Sharon Gayle Conner, Donna Conner, and Deborah Conner Wadkins; two grandsons, Billy Ray Bates and Michael Jay Allred and one son in law, Lewis W. Conner.
The Funeral Service was held Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Dwight Reagan officiating. Interment followed at the Wallace Creek Cemetery.
The family request that memorial be made to the Wallace Creek Cemetery Association or the Donors Favorite Charity.
