The San Saba High School's Junior Varsity football team defeated the DeLeon Bearcats Thursday night at Rogan Field. Allan Hale scored four touchdowns for the Dillos behind the blocking of Isaac Jimenez, Wil Sloan, Morgan Gilger, Tanner Weyerts, Cody Herd, and Dominic Rosales.
The Dillos scored on their first offensive play of the game when Hale took the hand-off from Ryan Pannell and went 58 yards. Pannell then threw a short pass to Jason Wells for the two-point conversion and the Dillos were up 8-0. The Dillo's special teams caused the Bearcats to fumble the ensuing kickoff and two plays later, Hale scored again from 5 yards out. Clayton Perry hit Pannell this time for the conversion and the Dillos now led 16-0.
The Bearcats put a long-drive together and scored their only points of the night on the first play of the second quarter. The defensive unit for the Dillos stopped the Bearcat offense the rest of the night and created two more turnovers. The leading tackler for the Dillos was Tanner Weyerts followed by Ryan Pannell, Morgan Gilger, and Wil Sloan.
Jason Wells, Alex Cervantes, Zach Davis and Miguel Flores also had productive nights on both sides of the ball. Allan Hale finished the game with 193 yards on 13 carries as the final score was 28-6 in favor of the Dillos.
The San Saba Junior Varsity will play Mason on September 4th at 6:00 at Rogan Field.
