The Freemasons of San Saba Masonic Lodge No. 612 will meet Saturday, September 6th for their regular stated meeting. A meal of brisket will be provided by Past Master Joe R. Ragsdale and all Masons, Masons’ ladies and OES ladies are asked to provide a complimentary covered side dish or dessert. Supper will be served at 6:30PM and lodge will open at about 7:00PM.

San Saba Lodge will recognize some of its members with various membership awards. There will be two 50 year awards, which will be presented to Max G. Ashley and James L. Weese.

Ashley was made a Mason in Toyah Lodge No. 1077 in Balmorhea, Texas. He was an EA 4-18-1957, FC 5-17-1957 and MM 7-13-1957. He affiliated with San Saba Lodge on 5-5-1962.

Weese was made an EA in Joppa Lodge No. 667 in Akron, Ohio on 9-9-1957, a FC in Fraternity Lodge No., 1111 in El Paso, Texas and a MM in Fraternity Lodge on 5-16-1958. Weese has also served as a Past Master of Temple Lodge No. 23 of Jacksonville, Florida in 2000.

There will be five 25-year awards presented as to the following; James D. Ballinger, Kenneth C. Head, John E. McPherson, Jr., Ronnie W. Vaughn, and Roger Verette.

Ballinger was made an EA in Deer Creek Lodge No. 510 at Everman, Texas, a FC on 2-7-1983 and a MM on 3-22-1983. He transferred his membership to San Saba Lodge in 2004 and is currently serving as the Junior Deacon.

Head was made a Mason in La Marque Lodge No. 1325 as an EA 1-11-1983, FC 5-31-1983, and a MM 10-11-1983. On 11-4-1989, he transferred his membership to San Saba Lodge.

McPherson was made a Mason in Richland Springs Lodge No. 882 as an EA 1-8-1983. FC 2-12-1983, and a MM 3-12-1983. In 1982 he became a dual member with San Saba Lodge and has served both lodges as a Past Master. He was District Deputy Grand Master in 1989, and is currently the Secretary of Richland Springs Lodge.

Vaughn was made a Mason in San Saba Lodge as an EA on 11-6-1982, FC 12-4-1982 and a MM on 1-8-1983. He has served in several offices, including Tiler, Junior Deacon, Senior Deacon, Junior Warden, and Worshipful Master (1988).

Verette was made a Mason in San Saba Lodge as an EA on 7-2-1983, FC 8-6-1983, and MM on 10-1-1983. He has also served in the office of Junior Stewart in 1985.

The awards will be presented in a public way and will be open for friends and guests of the families. San Saba Lodge takes this time to honor and recognize these individuals and their contributions to Freemasonry, and for their years of unbroken service to the fraternity.
